The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a preliminary decision to completely end the long-standing tradition of providing financial bonuses for individual match or series victories. This significant shift in policy was revealed amidst major sporting developments for the national cricket team on the international stage, specifically following a landmark performance overseas.

A director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board elaborated on the strategic reasoning behind this upcoming change within the organization. According to the board official, the administration is actively looking to move away from the previous custom regarding financial rewards. Instead of handing out bonuses for every single match or series win, the board is considering a system where players could instead be rewarded at the end of the year based on their overall good performance.

Former national team player Tamim Iqbal also voiced strong support for ending the recurring financial incentives tied to individual series. Explaining his stance on the matter, Tamim Iqbal stated that announcing bonuses ahead of every single series only creates a recurring cycle of bringing players in to face direct questioning afterward. Emphasizing that professional cricket should not operate under such a continuous pressure loop, he made it clear that he is not in favor of the current system.

Furthermore, Tamim Iqbal addressed the confidentiality of these internal board discussions and expressed immense pride in the team's latest monumental achievement. He noted that the specific details regarding player bonuses should ideally remain strictly internal, confirming that the board intends to sit down and discuss the matter directly with the players themselves. As a representative entity, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is exceptionally proud of what the squad has accomplished, and officials remain hopeful that Bangladesh cricket will continue to progress further from this milestone.

Highlighting the broader global impact of the team's recent success, Tamim Iqbal added that this triumph will deliver a massive statement internationally. He stressed that the outcome is much more than just a standard victory, serving instead as a powerful message to the rest of the cricketing world, leaving everyone involved feeling extremely happy with the historic outcome.

This policy shift coincides with a monumental sporting achievement on the field, where Bangladesh secured a historic victory in the opening match of a two-test series. Playing against the host nation Australia in Darwin, the visiting Bangladesh team triumphed with a commanding nine-wicket margin over their opponents. The stellar performance was spearheaded by pace bowler Hasan Mahmud, who earned the official match-best player award after brilliantly claiming a total of nine wickets throughout the contest.
