The global sports event officially commenced on March 29, 2026, drawing open-water swimming enthusiasts and competitors from various nations to test their endurance and athletic capabilities in the demanding coastal waters of southern Thailand.
The extensive travel itinerary required the participants to navigate multiple international transit hubs before finally reaching the competition venue. The journey began with a departure from Bangladesh, taking the competitors first to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. From there, the delegation continued their transit through Bangkok, Thailand, before completing the final leg of their journey to Krabi.
Among the travelling party, the author made the journey alongside fellow participant Mustafiz, representing their contingent on the international stage. Their collective preparation and travel logistics were part of a broader effort involving several individuals associated with the tournament, including Pijush, Sayeem, Charith, Samitha, Ashik, Somsak, and Saharat.
Logistical arrangements for the journey involved coordination with various service providers, including travel and financial services such as SriLankan Airlines and Super Rich. Managing the international transit required careful planning, accounting for extended periods during layovers and the management of multiple currencies and expenses as the athletes moved from South Asia into Southeast Asia.
Upon their arrival in Krabi, the athletes immediately shifted their focus from the rigors of international travel to the physical demands of the upcoming open-water competition. The Oceanman world championship represents a major milestone for the participants, who spent considerable time preparing for the event before gathering at the Thai coastal destination for the start of competition on March 29, 2026.
