Bangladesh Women's Football Team Ready for Asian Games Challenge
The Bangladesh women's football team is competing in the Asian Games for the second time, facing tough group stage opponents after a preparation camp in China. Head coach Peter Butler stated that the team's main goal is to build credibility through strong performances rather than setting unrealistic targets.

The Bangladesh women's football team is set for its second-ever appearance in the prestigious Asian Games football tournament. The squad previously made its debut in the event back in 2022, during which the team was eliminated following the conclusion of the group stage matches.
For this current campaign, the Bangladesh side has been drawn into a highly challenging group stage. Their opponents in this round consist of North Korea, South Korea, and Myanmar. These fixtures will test the capabilities of the squad against some of the top-tier footballing nations in the continent.
Ahead of their tournament fixtures, the Bangladesh team completed a ten-day training camp located in China to fine-tune their preparations. This developmental buildup follows a successful period for the program, which notably included winning the SAFF Women's Championship for the second time in 2024.
Addressing the team's approach and ambitions heading into the tournament, head coach Peter Butler offered a measured perspective on their upcoming matches. He outlined that the primary objective for the squad is to establish credibility through strong and competitive on-field performances.
Coach Butler further emphasized the developmental reality facing the national side on the broader international stage. He noted that because the team has not yet reached the elite Asian level, they are deliberately avoiding the setting of any unrealistic targets for the competition.
Instead, the coach stressed that the players aim to play strictly according to their own abilities and demonstrate the tangible progress Bangladesh has achieved over the past few years. He concluded by affirming that a resilient fighting mentality remains the core strength of the squad.
