Bangladeshi Singer Asif Akbar Deactivates Facebook Amid Discontent
Renowned musician Asif Akbar has deactivated his official Facebook account, expressing deep frustration with the platform's current environment. He announced the decision during a film press conference at BFDC in Dhaka.

Popular Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar has taken the drastic step of deactivating his personal Facebook account, stepping away from the widely used social media platform entirely. The decision comes as a direct result of his mounting frustration and deep dissatisfaction with the current environment and operational state of the digital platform.
The musician officially disclosed his decision to abandon the social media network recently while attending a press conference for an upcoming film. The media event took place at the well-known Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) located in Dhaka, where he elaborated on the exact reasons behind his departure from the digital sphere.
Expounding on his grievances during the press conference, Asif Akbar sharply criticized the transformation of the platform over time. He stated, 'Facebook was a social communication medium. But now religion is being propagated on Facebook, online orders are being placed. Facebook is no longer in its place. Which news to believe, which is true cannot be said. I have to call Rumer Scanner and say, "Brother, I didn't say this."'
The singer further highlighted the cumbersome verification processes necessitated by rampant misinformation on the platform. Describing the toll of these recurring falsehoods, he explained, 'Then they scan and see. After that, it has to be published again. This is a place of responsibility. But if that is not right, then people are constantly confused.'
By choosing to deactivate his account, the artist has officially severed his direct digital connection to the platform, citing the constant struggle against fabricated stories and altered statements. His public announcement at the BFDC serves as a notable stand against the erosion of reliable communication channels within contemporary social networking environments.
