A 38-year-old Bangladeshi migrant worker, Md. Raju, was shot and killed by a gunman during a tragic incident at a pizza shop located in Brooklyn, New York, United States. The fatal shooting took place on Saturday night local time, plunging the victim's family and community into deep shock and sorrow as details of the violent encounter emerged internationally.
According to the confirmed facts of the incident, another Bangladeshi person was also struck by gunfire during the same attack at the Brooklyn establishment. Following the shooting, Md. Raju was urgently transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but he was ultimately declared dead upon arrival by medical professionals.
Before migrating to the United States, Md. Raju spent seven years working abroad in Qatar, though he was reportedly unable to accumulate significant wealth during that period. In pursuit of a better life and financial stability, he ultimately chose to travel to the United States via unauthorized routes, raising funds by selling his land and taking on substantial financial loans.
The devastating news of his untimely death reached his grieving family back in Bangladesh on Sunday. By Monday, relatives, neighbors, and community members gathered at his ancestral home in Kanshnagar village, located within the Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali, to offer condolences and mourn the loss.
The victim leaves behind his devastated family members, including Poli Akhter, Jannatul Naima, Raisa Akhter, and Mohammad Ullah. Among the family's young children are 12-year-old daughter Jannatul Naima and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Raisa Akhter, whose futures have now been profoundly altered by the tragedy overseas.
Local leaders and grieving relatives, including Abdul Aziz, noted the immense struggles and hardships Md. Raju endured throughout his life to achieve stability. His family and community are now left grappling with the shattered dreams of a migrant worker whose life was cut short inside a New York pizza shop.
