Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation Offers Loans Up to Tk 2 Million

The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSIC) is actively supporting local entrepreneurship this year by providing substantial financial assistance to cottage, micro, small, and medium enterprises across Bangladesh. Under this initiative, eligible business owners can access loans ranging from a minimum of Tk 50,000 to a maximum of Tk 2 million to develop, sustain, and expand their commercial operations throughout the country.

To ease the borrowing process for smaller enterprises, the corporation has established accessible terms for applicants seeking financial support. Specifically, loans amounting up to Tk 200,000 are provided completely collateral-free, requiring only a single guarantor to secure the funding. This provision aims to lower the traditional barriers that smaller business operators frequently encounter when attempting to secure institutional capital.

The financial packages are structured with highly competitive interest rates designed to foster inclusive economic participation. Female entrepreneurs benefit from a reduced interest rate of 5 percent, while male entrepreneurs are required to pay an interest rate of 6 percent. Furthermore, the repayment period for these financial allocations is flexible, ranging from a minimum duration of one year up to a maximum of five years.

The institutional framework for disbursing these funds operates through a structured multi-tier approval system depending on the requested amount. District offices of the corporation possess the authority to independently approve loans up to a maximum limit of Tk 500,000. For requests ranging from Tk 500,000 to Tk 1 million, authorization must be granted by the respective regional offices, whereas any amount exceeding Tk 1 million strictly requires approval from the main headquarters.

Several specialized financial funds have been deployed to support targeted segments of the industrial sector this year. The stimulus package loan fund is valued at Tk 2.70 billion and has successfully distributed funds to 9,291 recipients. Simultaneously, the dedicated 'Bineet' loan fund stands at Tk 1.50 billion, providing financial backing to 8,873 beneficiaries across the nation.

Special provisions have also been established for specific agricultural and cottage sectors, including a dedicated beekeepers' loan fund amounting to Tk 47.8 million that has reached 1,497 beekeepers. Interested applicants seeking to secure any of these available financial allocations can apply directly through the designated corporation offices located across all 64 districts of Bangladesh.
