Bangladesh has experienced a significant boost in foreign financial inflows as expatriate Bangladeshis sent a substantial volume of remittance during the recently concluded month of August. According to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank on September 1, the country's financial sector received a total of $2.96 billion—specifically recorded as 296 কোটি 66 লাখ dollars—through international remittances for the month of August alone. This impressive monthly inflow highlights a robust upward trajectory in the financial contributions made by workers living abroad.

When compared historically, the August figures demonstrate a remarkable year-on-year growth rate. During the corresponding month of the previous year, the country received 242 কোটি 19 লাখ dollars in remittances. This translates to an increase of approximately 54 কোটি 47 লাখ dollars, which represents a notable 22.5 percent growth in percentage terms. Furthermore, this follows the financial activity recorded in July, when the nation brought in 285 কোটি 87 লাখ dollars, maintaining a steady and powerful momentum in foreign earnings.

Cumulatively, looking at the first two months of the fiscal year—encompassing both July and August—total remittances have reached 582 কোটি 53 লাখ dollars. This stands in sharp contrast to the roughly 490 কোটি dollars recorded during the first two months of the previous fiscal year. Consequently, the opening two months of the fiscal period have yielded an increase of approximately 92 কোটি dollars, or about 19 percent, building upon the steady June inflow of 282 কোটি 25 লাখ dollars.

A detailed breakdown of the banking channels utilized for the August remittances reveals diverse pathways for the funds. State-owned commercial banks collectively channeled about 433 কোটি 46 লাখ dollars. Among these government institutions, Agrani Bank handled approximately 162 কোটি 8 লাখ dollars, Sonali Bank processed 139 কোটি 91 লাখ dollars, Janata Bank facilitated roughly 79 কোটি 31 লাখ dollars, and Bangladesh Krishi Bank accounted for approximately 291 কোটি 91 লাখ dollars.

Concurrently, private commercial banks played a dominant role, channeling a massive total of roughly 2,234 কোটি 53 লাখ dollars during August. Leading institutions within the private sector included Islami Bank Bangladesh, which secured approximately 550 কোটি 89 লাখ dollars; Brac Bank, which handled roughly 252 কোটি 81 লাখ dollars; and Trust Bank, which processed approximately 211 কোটি 49 লাখ dollars. Additionally, foreign banks facilitated roughly 6 কোটি 74 লাখ dollars during the same month, reflecting a diversified distribution across the nation's banking network at a converted valuation rate of 121 taka per dollar, placing the total value of August remittances at roughly 35,860 কোটি taka.

Alongside the remittance updates, Bangladesh Bank also published its updated reports concerning the foreign exchange market and national reserves on September 1. According to these verified official statistics, the country's gross foreign exchange reserves now stand at 37.407 billion dollars, which precisely equals 37,407.46 million dollars. Furthermore, when calculated in accordance with the International Monetary Fund's BPM-6 manual, the foreign exchange reserves are officially recorded at 32.497 billion dollars, or 32,496.60 million dollars.
