Bangladesh Participates in IAEA 70th General Conference in Vienna

Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam represented Bangladesh at the international stage during the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held in Vienna. The high-profile gathering brought together international delegates, experts, and organizational leaders to discuss global nuclear policies, technological advancements, and safety standards within the sector.

During the significant diplomatic proceedings at the Vienna conference, the Bangladesh delegation achieved a major milestone by officially signing the Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the 2026-2032 term. This strategic planning document is expected to guide future cooperation between Bangladesh and the international organization across various scientific and technological sectors over the designated multi-year period.

In the context of the nation's broader energy and technological advancements, the delegation highlighted notable progress regarding the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. Specifically, the proceedings drew attention to the successful fuel loading phase at Unit-1 of the Rooppur facility, marking a critical step forward in Bangladesh's journey toward achieving carbon-free power generation.
