Abdul Alim was born on July 27, 1931, in the village of Talibpur located in Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. Throughout his illustrious career, he made an indelible mark on the musical landscape, with five hundred songs officially recorded by the artist, which continue to resonate with generations of listeners across the country.

The celebrated singer passed away on September 5, 1974. Following his death, the government of Bangladesh honored his immense contributions to arts and culture by posthumously awarding him the prestigious Ekushey Padak in 1977, one of the nation's highest civilian accolades.
