Remembering Legendary Filmmaker and Writer Amjad Hossain

Today marks the birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker, writer, and lyricist Amjad Hossain, a towering figure in the cultural history of Bangladesh. Born on 14 August 1942 in Iqbalpur, located within the municipal area of Jamalpur, he grew up to become one of the nation's most celebrated creative talents, contributing profoundly to literature and the silver screen throughout his illustrious life and career.

Amjad Hossain officially began his journey in the film industry in 1961 by making his acting debut on the silver screen in the movie 'Tomar Amar'. This initial step marked the beginning of a decades-long career in which he would expand his creative horizons beyond acting to become a renowned writer, lyricist, and visionary filmmaker.

Over the course of his remarkable career, his exceptional contributions to cinema and literature were widely recognized and celebrated with numerous prestigious honors. He earned a staggering twelve National Film Awards and six Bachsas Awards, cementing his legacy as a master storyteller and a pillar of the Bangladeshi film industry.
