The Bangladesh cricket team has turned its full attention toward the upcoming second and final Test match against Australia in Mackay. Following a stellar nine-wicket win in Darwin, the touring side is eager to maintain its momentum on Australian soil. However, team leadership has stressed the need for professional focus and moving past the euphoria of previous successes quickly.

Addressing reporters during a pre-match press conference in Mackay, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto discussed the team's mindset heading into the crucial encounter. He noted that while victories undoubtedly provide a boost in confidence, professional players must return their focus to the task at hand very quickly. Shanto stated that the squad's primary goal is to play good cricket across all five days of the Test match, focusing on individual sessions and days rather than looking too far ahead at the final result.

Adapting to the local environment has been a key area of focus for the visiting squad since their arrival in Mackay. Shanto acknowledged that the weather in Mackay presents a slightly different challenge compared to their previous venue, describing the conditions as somewhat colder and windier. Despite these environmental differences, the team has utilized two days of practice sessions to get accustomed to the pitch and weather, leaving the players with a solid understanding of the conditions.

Team selection and player fitness also dominated discussions during the press conference, particularly concerning key members of the batting lineup. Mushfiqur Rahim has been managing an injury concern, with Shanto confirming that the experienced player has been batting and is currently doing well. Additionally, opening batsman Tanjid Hasan faced fitness concerns after experiencing neck stiffness, which had previously kept him out of practice. Shanto provided an encouraging update, stating that Tanjid underwent a scan and subsequently returned to the nets for batting practice.

Looking ahead to the final lineup decisions, the Bangladesh captain expressed confidence in the depth of his squad and the information available to the coaching staff. Shanto indicated that the team management would observe the situation until the morning of the match before making a final determination. With various options available to the team and players continuing to recover positively, the management feels well-prepared to make the right call for the crucial clash.
