Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi met on August 24 at the Ministry of Commerce in Dhaka to discuss the ongoing bilateral trade relationship between Bangladesh and India.

During the official meeting at the ministry, both high-ranking officials engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding various avenues to further advance economic ties and cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

A major focus of the talks between Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi was the reopening of land borders and traditional border markets, known locally as border hauts, to facilitate localized commerce and movement.

In addition to border trade infrastructure, the two sides discussed potential joint venture manufacturing initiatives specifically within the garment sector, exploring ways to enhance industrial collaboration between businesses in both countries.

The high-level diplomatic engagement also highlighted broader regional economic dynamics, noting that India stands as Bangladesh's second-largest commercial partner, coming just after China in terms of overall trade volume.

During the discussions in Dhaka, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi emphasized the foundational equality of the two nations, stating that Bangladesh and India are both independent and sovereign countries where no one is considered large or small, and everyone remains equal.
