Banglabin Launches Eco-Friendly Waste Recycling Initiative in Dhaka
Banglabin has launched an eco-friendly waste collection and recycling initiative in Dhaka, providing services to more than 20,000 customers. Founded by North South University student Ashraful Muntasir, the enterprise supplies recycled raw materials to major industrial groups.
Banglabin officially commenced its operations on September 26, 2025, in Dhaka, introducing an innovative eco-friendly waste collection and recycling initiative designed to transform discarded materials into valuable industrial resources. From its inception, the startup has rapidly expanded its operational footprint across the capital city, successfully extending its comprehensive waste management services to more than 20,000 individual customers.
The enterprise was founded and is directed by Ashraful Muntasir, who previously pursued his education as a student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at North South University. Transitioning from his academic background in technology, Muntasir established the organization with a clear vision regarding waste valorization and environmental sustainability within the urban landscape of Dhaka.
Highlighting the foundational philosophy of the organization, founder and director Ashraful Muntasir stated, "We believe that even discarded items present an opportunity to be re-evaluated anew." This guiding principle underpins the daily operations of Banglabin as it systematically collects various types of recyclable refuse from households and businesses across the metropolitan area.
To incentivize proper waste sorting and recycling practices, the initiative maintains a structured purchasing framework for various recyclable commodities. Copper is bought at rates ranging from 900 to 1,200 taka per kilogram, while brass is valued between 500 and 600 taka per kilogram. Additionally, aluminum commands a price of 210 to 250 taka per kilogram, iron is priced at 35 to 40 taka per kilogram, and both plastic and tin are collected at rates between 25 and 30 taka per kilogram.
Following the collection and sorting process, the initiative ensures that a substantial portion of the processed waste is systematically directed back into the manufacturing sector. Banglabin supplies these recycled materials as essential raw inputs directly to prominent domestic industrial conglomerates, including Akij Group and RFL, thereby fostering a functional circular economy within the region.
