Aminul Haque, who currently serves as the State Minister for Youth and Sports, shares a deeply personal connection with the historic milestone. During the 2010 South Asian Games tournament held in Dhaka, Haque proudly served as the captain of the victorious Bangladesh football team that secured the gold medal.
The reunion was attended by a large contingent of the gold-winning squad members, including Mamunul Islam, Zahid Hasan Ameli, Wali Faisal, Zahed Parvez Chowdhury, Enamul হক, Atiqur Rahman Meshu, Mamun Mia, Ariful Islam, Nasirul Islam Nasir, Mintu Sheikh, Rezaul Karim, Imtiaz Sultan Jitu, Shakil Ahmed, Zahid Hossain, Abdul Baten Mojumdar Komol, Md. Yusuf, Mithun Chowdhury, Touhidul Alam Sabuj, and Mohammad Enamul Haque.
Reflecting on the broader history of the nation's football achievements, Bangladesh previously tasted gold at the South Asian Games on only one other occasion prior to 2010. That historic first victory took place back in 1999 when the national team triumphed at the South Asian Games held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
