Actor Biswajit Chakraborty Files Lawsuit Over Trolling
Indian actor Biswajit Chakraborty has taken legal action following intense online trolling and legal threats. The backlash began after he expressed a preference for beef and hilsa fish during a recent trip to Bangladesh.

Indian actor Biswajit Chakraborty has taken formal legal action following a wave of intense online trolling and threats directed at him by internet users. The controversy erupted after the actor publicly shared his food preferences during a brief visit to neighboring Bangladesh earlier in the month.
According to the verified timeline of events, the actor travelled to Bangladesh on September 4 to attend a sister's birthday celebration and successfully returned to Kolkata on September 5. Reflecting on his short stay, Chakraborty expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality he received during the family event, noting that he was thoroughly overwhelmed by the warmth shown by his hosts.
The situation escalated when Chakraborty participated in an interview and mentioned his culinary plans during the trip. In his remarks, he stated that he had arrived, enjoyed fish and rice at a hotel for lunch, and anticipated eating beef for dinner, with hopes of having hilsa fish the following day. As a Hindu actor, these specific food preferences triggered immediate criticism and trolling on social media platforms from various Indian netizens.
Addressing the intrusion into his personal life and the subsequent hostility, Chakraborty strongly defended his autonomy regarding daily choices. He questioned why anyone else should dictate his diet, emphasizing that it is his stomach, his mind, his hands, and his own money being spent on the food he consumes.
In response to the severe nature of the online harassment and legal threats he received, the actor confirmed that he has officially initiated legal proceedings. Because the matter is currently sub judice and pending before the court, Chakraborty stated that it would not be appropriate to make any further public comments regarding the ongoing legal case.
