Actor Arsh Khan condemns violence against Azmeri Haque Badhon and mob justice
Bangladeshi actor Arsh Khan has strongly condemned the physical assault faced by actress Azmeri Haque Badhon in Italy. He also spoke out against recent mob justice, violence against women, and the current political polarization in the country.
Bangladeshi actor Arsh Khan has addressed several pressing issues regarding actress Azmeri Haque Badhon experiencing physical assault in Italy. Alongside this concerning incident, the actor expressed strong views on the term 'Julaijoddha', recent occurrences of mob justice, and the overall situation in the country.
During his remarks, Arsh Khan explicitly stated that he does not want to take the term 'Julaijoddha' with him. He explained that the term no longer holds the value, honesty, and neutrality it should have, adding that it has become ugly and distorted by many people for personal gain. Consequently, whenever he hears the word 'Julaijoddha' now, it no longer sounds pleasant to his ears.
Addressing the broader social climate, the actor criticized recent trends of violence, noting that the country is no longer in the tumultuous situation it faced in July 2024, as everything is now calm. However, he questioned the ongoing violence against women on the streets, pointing out that such brutal beatings are not a new phenomenon witnessed for the first time recently.
Arsh Khan also offered sharp criticism regarding recent mob justice incidents, stating that based on his understanding, such actions should simply not happen. He emphasized that the country has laws, and if anyone has suspicions or complications regarding an individual, they should seek legal assistance rather than resorting to mobs.
Furthermore, the actor lamented the extreme political polarization in society, remarking that people in Bangladesh often feel divided into factions supporting the Awami League, BNP, NCP, or Jamaat, forgetting that they are human beings above all else. He noted that when such divisions are practiced over a long period, their manifestations appear in various ways across different places, though he does not support it.
Concluding his remarks, Arsh Khan firmly declared his stance against violence directed at anyone, regardless of their identity. He stated that whether it happens to Azmeri Haque Badhon, any other woman, a man, or an artist, he does not support it. He added that if someone's opinion differs, he simply will not talk to them or walk their path, and if someone commits a wrongdoing, legal recourse should be sought to ensure they face punishment.
