Zero Discharge Plant Inaugurated at Habiganj Industrial Park
Department of Environment Director General Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman inaugurated a new zero discharge plant at Habiganj Industrial Park on 12 September 2026. A high-level delegation from the department also visited multiple manufacturing facilities and the recycling plant operated by PRAN-RFL Group.
A zero discharge plant has been officially inaugurated at the Habiganj Industrial Park, located in Alipur, Shayestaganj, Habiganj. The inauguration ceremony took place on 12 September 2026, marking a significant development for industrial environmental management within the facility operated by PRAN-RFL Group.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Department of Environment, Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, who formally opened the new facility. Alongside Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, several other officials were present during the event, including Kamruzzaman Kamal, Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Sabrin Sultana, Md. Samsuzzaman Sarkar, Dr. Md. Yusuf Ali, and Dipak Kumar Deb.
Following the inauguration, a high-level delegation from the Department of Environment conducted a comprehensive tour of the industrial park. The delegation inspected various production factories as well as the recycling plant operated by PRAN-RFL Group, observing the ongoing environmental management practices implemented at the manufacturing hub.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors to ensure environmental protection. He stated that working together through integrated initiatives makes it possible to build a green Bangladesh. He further noted that increasing the use of eco-friendly technologies, such as the newly inaugurated zero discharge plant, is essential to guide industrial institutions toward sustainable production systems, adding that such initiatives by PRAN-RFL will create a positive precedent for environmental management in the industrial sector.
Kamruzzaman Kamal also addressed the gathering, highlighting the organization's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. He stated that they have long been implementing various initiatives focused on environmental protection and the maximum utilization of resources, noting that the installation of the zero discharge water plant is a continuation of those efforts. According to him, the primary objectives of this initiative are to reduce water consumption through water reuse and to mitigate the environmental impact of industrial waste.
