The United States government has officially lifted its controversial suspension on issuing immigrant visas for citizens hailing from Bangladesh and 75 other countries across the globe. This significant policy shift comes in the wake of a recent and decisive ruling handed down by a federal court, marking a major turning point for numerous applicants who had been left in limbo regarding their immigration status.

The original freeze on these immigrant visas was initially imposed earlier this year in January by the US Department of State. That directive abruptly halted the processing and issuance of immigrant visas for the affected nations, creating widespread uncertainty, significant administrative backlogs, and profound concern among prospective immigrants and legal advocacy groups worldwide.

However, the legal landscape shifted dramatically following a formal challenge mounted in the American judicial system. Specifically, US federal judge Janet Vargas, presiding over the Southern District Federal Court of New York, delivered a crucial ruling against the Department of State's restrictive immigration policy.

In her judicial decision, Judge Vargas found against the government's suspension of these visa categories. As a direct consequence of this federal court ruling, the policy was struck down, compelling the administration to abandon the freeze and restore normal visa processing procedures for the affected populations.

According to the official timeline of the legal proceedings, the suspension on issuing immigrant visas is no longer in effect. The decision officially took effect starting from the twenty-first of August, ensuring that the processing of immigrant visas for citizens from Bangladesh and the other impacted countries could legally resume.
