UK High Commissioner Meets Tourism Minister to Discuss Aviation Ties

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook has paid a courtesy call on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat at the minister's office inside the secretariat in Dhaka.

The high-level diplomatic meeting took place on Tuesday, September 15. During the engagement at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, both officials discussed various avenues for further strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

A central focus of the discussions between Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and High Commissioner Sarah Cook was the ongoing modernization of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Specifically, the talks addressed the complex procurement process for acquiring new aircraft to expand and upgrade the national carrier's operational fleet.

The comprehensive discussions also touched upon historical regulatory milestones concerning the nation's aviation sector. Notably, the meeting referenced the year 2017, a period when the European Union officially placed Bangladesh on its designated list concerning high-risk cargo and mail items.
