South Korean Stars Discuss Filming Four-Hour Kissing Scene
Actors Lee Min-jung and Kim Ji-seok recently appeared on a YouTube channel to discuss their upcoming drama. During the appearance, they opened up about the intense filming process for a lengthy romance scene.
South Korean actors Lee Min-jung and Kim Ji-seok made a notable appearance together on a YouTube channel on September 15. The two television stars are currently promoting their upcoming work where they star as a married couple in the new drama titled 'OK! Let's Get Divorce'. During their conversational segment on the video platform, the actors discussed the behind-the-scenes realities of filming intimate sequences for the television series.
The conversation quickly turned to the intense physical demands of their romantic scenes, with Kim Ji-seok revealing specific details about a lengthy sequence. Kim Ji-seok noted that they spent an extensive amount of time on set filming a single romantic interaction, stating, "Only the kissing scene itself, we filmed it for four hours." He elaborated on the physical toll the prolonged sequence took, explaining that because he had facial hair, Lee Min-jung's face became scratched and red from the friction during the continuous takes.
Addressing his co-star directly during the YouTube appearance, Kim Ji-seok asked about the aftermath of the shoot, saying, "Did you feel any sense of guilt after going home after shooting a kissing scene with me?" When Lee Min-jung briefly replied with "No," a surprised Kim asked, "Really?" Kim then confessed his own feelings regarding the unprecedented nature of the work, admitting, "I felt guilty. I don't know how it was for you. But after entering acting, I have never done such a long and intense kissing scene before this."
The dialogue also touched upon their personal lives and how they navigate discussing their professional responsibilities at home. Lee Min-jung, who married fellow actor Lee Byung-hun in 2013 and shares two children with him, discussed the awkwardness of sharing details about romantic shoots with a spouse. She remarked, "If we were in a romantic relationship, I might have said it. But after getting married and having children, saying 'Today I am going to shoot a kissing scene'—like that..." Kim Ji-seok completed the thought by adding, "That would be ridiculous."
