Tennis legends Serena Williams and Venus Williams have received an official wildcard from tournament organizers to play together in the women's doubles competition at the upcoming US Open in New York, USA. The news brings the celebrated sisters back to the Grand Slam stage for a highly anticipated doubles partnership, drawing intense interest from tennis fans and international media outlets alike.

Serena Williams had previously stepped away from competitive tennis following her appearance at the 2022 US Open. However, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion made a notable return to the courts in June of the current year, playing in a limited number of events as she tested her form and fitness on the professional tour.

In addition to her upcoming doubles campaign with Venus, Serena has maintained a busy schedule at Flushing Meadows. During the tournament proceedings, she also competed in the mixed doubles event alongside Carlos Alcaraz. Their partnership ultimately came to an end on a Tuesday when they were defeated in the quarter-finals by Leylah Fernandez.

The Williams sisters boast an extraordinary legacy in the sport, having previously claimed 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together. Venus, now 46 years old, and Serena, aged 44, both surpass the age of forty while continuing to compete at the highest professional levels. Over their illustrious careers, they have captured numerous accolades, including Serena's 23 major singles titles and Venus's seven Grand Slam singles titles.

Throughout their storied careers, the American duo has thrilled crowds with their dominance and power, famously recording serves reaching blistering speeds, such as a magnificent ace clocked at 120 miles per hour (193.1 kilometers per hour). Having competed in four events so far this year, Serena now prepares to rejoin her older sister for another memorable chapter in New York.
