Sajek Valley Road Communication Restored After Flooding

Road communication between the popular tourist destination Sajek Valley and the rest of the region experienced a temporary disruption on Saturday, August 29. The disruption occurred along the Sajek-Baghaichhari road, specifically in the low-lying Baghaichhari area. Continuous heavy rainfall and subsequent mountain runoff triggered the flooding that inundated the crucial roadway, cutting off vehicular movement.

The sudden disruption left hundreds of tourist-carrying vehicles stranded on both sides of the flooded road by Saturday. Visitors traveling to and from Sajek Valley faced unexpected delays as the rising water levels made the low-lying sections of the thoroughfare completely impassable for hours, halting all transit through the vital mountain pass.

As the day progressed into the afternoon, weather conditions allowed the floodwaters to recede partially from the affected road surface. The improvement in the situation paved the way for immediate clearance operations and the resumption of standard traffic flow along the route.

The restoration of the transport link was achieved through a coordinated effort involving the army and local residents. Working together at the site, they successfully assisted in clearing the obstacles and managing the stranded vehicles, ultimately ensuring that the road communication between Sajek Valley and Baghaichhari was fully re-established.
