Recent Russian missile attacks have severely impacted Ukraine's publishing industry, destroying a major printing house located in the suburbs of Kyiv where essential textbooks were actively being produced. According to reports cited by the BBC and local sources, the ongoing military offensive by Russia has resulted in the destruction of an alarming 1.2 crore books throughout the country.
Official statistics indicate that the extensive wave of violence has targeted more than 35 publishing and printing establishments across Ukraine in recent weeks. Among the destroyed materials were 13 lakh books currently undergoing the printing process, which accounted for approximately ten percent of the total textbooks designated for Ukrainian schools. Analysts note that Russia has successfully destroyed roughly one-third of all books printed within Ukraine over the course of the current year.
The cultural devastation extends far beyond contemporary literature and school supplies. Documented impacts on the nation's heritage include damage to more than 1,900 traditional landmarks and over 2,000 cultural institutions throughout Ukraine. Amid the wreckage of a burned English-language textbook, a charred page containing a simple sentence remained visible: “আমার নাম উইলিয়াম। আমার বাড়ি যুক্তরাজ্যে। আমার দাদি নটিংহামে থাকেন। এটি একটি সুন্দর শহর।”
Ukrainian officials and publishing representatives have strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of the nation's literary infrastructure. ভিক্টোরিয়া হাইদাই expressed deep concern over the systematic destruction, stating that Russia is intentionally carrying out these attacks and pointing out that major publishing distribution centers holding vast inventories have been completely ruined over the past two months. হাইদাই further asserted that Russia is attempting to erase the Ukrainian nation from history by destroying printing presses, though she remains steadfast in the belief that these efforts will ultimately fail.

Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in the UK has responded to the international fallout by issuing a claim that Ukraine itself is responsible for destroying its own old monuments. Furthermore, the Russian diplomatic mission alleged that cultural centers are being utilized to conceal military equipment.
