A major Russian drone strike targeted a Ukrainian military arms depot situated near a residential area in the village of Mila, located within the Bucha district on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The assault, which occurred on Friday night, triggered massive explosions and resulted in significant casualties and widespread destruction in the surrounding locality.

According to official reports from the region, the heavy bombardment and subsequent blasts caused the deaths of 37 individuals. In addition to the fatalities, a total of 42 people sustained injuries during the attack, with four children among the wounded. Emergency response teams and local authorities also evacuated approximately 400 people from the immediate danger zone to secure locations.

Following the tragedy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted strongly to the security breach and loss of life, condemning the situation as completely unacceptable and ordering a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Echoing these concerns, Serhii Koretskyi issued a sharp rebuke regarding the vulnerability of the facility, stating that repeating the same mistakes in the fifth year of the all-out invasion amounts to criminal negligence and that those responsible must face severe punishment.

The Russian Ministry of Defence officially confirmed that its military forces targeted the arms depot in Mila village as part of its operations. This strike follows earlier incidents earlier in the conflict, including a July attack on an arms depot in the Vyshneve area that resulted in nine deaths and damaged 280 homes, as well as recent aerial engagements involving the interception of 233 Russian drones.

Meanwhile, the conflict continued to see cross-border casualties as retaliatory or concurrent actions unfolded. In Russia's Belgorod and Rostov regions, separate Ukrainian attacks resulted in the deaths of two people and left 25 others injured, highlighting the ongoing and widening geographical scope of the hostilities between the two nations.
