On August 15, in Doha, Qatar, tensions arose between the two nations following an incident involving military aircraft near a major regional military facility. According to the verified reports, two Iranian Sukhoi-24 fighter jets were shot down in the airspace near the Al-Udeid Air Base, triggering a rapid response from local authorities and rescue personnel.

Following the downing of the aircraft, Qatar's designated rescue teams were deployed to the area to search for any surviving crew members. During the extensive search and rescue operations, the teams successfully located and recovered the body of one deceased pilot. Consistent with international protocols and bilateral understandings, the remains of this pilot were subsequently returned to Iran.

Despite these actions, the Iranian military and official channels later came forward with claims asserting that Qatar had actually detained three surviving Iranian pilots from the downed Sukhoi-24 jets. These assertions quickly circulated, drawing significant attention to Doha and threatening to strain diplomatic relations in the region.

In response to these allegations, the Qatari Foreign Ministry issued a definitive rejection of the claims made by the Iranian side. Majed Al-Ansari, speaking on behalf of the Qatari authorities, formally addressed the circulating reports regarding the alleged detention of the three surviving personnel.

Expressing strong disapproval, Majed Al-Ansari stated: “We completely reject the rumors being spread about the detention of Iranian pilots. We truly express our surprise at such misleading statements at a time when successive diplomatic efforts and initiatives are underway to reduce tension in this region.” The Qatari government maintains that its rescue teams acted solely in a humanitarian and professional capacity during the aftermath of the incident.
