During the ongoing cricket tour of England, a member of the Pakistan cricket team made the decision to refuse attendance at a high-profile meeting with Britain's King Charles. According to reports from The Telegraph, the protest was staged directly in response to the unnamed player being dropped from the second Test squad.
The royal reception took place at Clarence House in England. While the boycotting player chose to stay away, several other members of the Pakistan squad were present at the official event. Among those confirmed to have attended the gathering at Clarence House were Mohammad Awais Zafar, Aamir Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, and Ali Usman.
During the royal engagement, team captain Babar Azam presented King Charles with a signed bat as a special gift. Additionally, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also presented a gift to the British monarch on behalf of the cricket board.
The team developments and royal visit coincided with a difficult period for the touring side on the cricket field. Pakistan suffered a heavy 194-run defeat in the second Test match against the England team at Lord's, which left them trailing 2-0 down in the three-match series and effectively losing the contest.
In the wake of these struggles and series defeat, significant administrative and coaching changes have been implemented within the Pakistan camp. The Pakistan team squad underwent alterations, while head coach Sarfraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were removed from their coaching responsibilities.
