Nawazuddin Siddiqui Recalls Receiving 200 Scripts and Blank Cheques
Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has opened up about receiving around 200 scripts and blank cheques following the release of 'Gangs of Wasseypur 2'. He also discussed his upcoming cinematic projects, including a role alongside Alia Bhatt in the anticipated sequel 'Tumbbad 2'.

Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has shared remarkable details about the overwhelming professional response he received following the release of the acclaimed film 'Gangs of Wasseypur 2', which originally hit theatres back in 2012. Speaking about the sudden surge in career opportunities during a recent period, the celebrated performer revealed that the massive success of the project brought an unprecedented wave of attention from filmmakers and producers across the entertainment industry.
According to Siddiqui, the aftermath of the movie's release resulted in him receiving approximately 200 different scripts for potential future roles. The actor recounted that blank cheques were frequently left sitting on his table by individuals who were eager to secure his involvement in their upcoming cinematic productions. People would approach him with specific offers, telling him to take a script, take a blank cheque, write down whatever amount of money he desired, and simply provide his available dates for filming.
Despite the immense financial temptation and the sheer volume of offers, the discerning actor chose to turn down every single one of those proposals. Siddiqui explained that he did not accept a single one of those scripts because none of them genuinely appealed to his artistic sensibilities. He made a conscious decision to hold out and wait for the right character rather than rushing into projects for the sake of immediate commercial gain.
Reflecting on his career journey and his mindset at the time, the performer noted that he was already accustomed to waiting years for meaningful work. Consequently, he firmly believed that it was far better to wait another two or three years than to rush into signing any random project that crossed his path during that high-profile period.
Building upon his illustrious career, Siddiqui continues to stay active in the film industry with several notable projects on his horizon. Most recently, his film titled 'Main Actor Nahin Hoon' was released on May 8, 2024, in Mumbai, India, marking another significant milestone in his diverse professional portfolio.
Looking ahead to future cinematic ventures, the actor is slated to appear in the upcoming movie 'Tumbbad 2'. In this highly anticipated sequel, Siddiqui will be seen alongside prominent actress Alia Bhatt, with the production being directed by filmmaker Aadesh Prasad, promising an exciting new collaboration for audiences.
