Mongla Port Faces Navigation, Jetty and Transport Challenges

Mongla Port has recently experienced an increase in its operational activities as vessels continue to navigate from the sea through the river routes to reach the port. Cargo operations, including the loading and unloading of goods, are actively taking place at the port jetties, indicating a positive movement in daily maritime trade and port functionality.

Despite this operational momentum, the port is currently unable to utilize its full potential due to several persistent structural and logistical barriers. Chief among these challenges is a critical navigational crisis within the approach routes, which directly prevents larger draft vessels from safely berthing at the port facilities.

Compounding the navigation difficulties, Mongla Port is also suffering from a significant shortage of jetties. This limitation restricts the number of ships that can be accommodated simultaneously, creating bottlenecks in cargo handling and slowing down the overall maritime commerce flow through the port.
