Malaysia Launches Online Foreign Worker Recruitment System

Malaysia has officially transitioned away from manual methods to introduce a fully online application process for hiring foreign workers. This digital transformation utilizes the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS) to streamline administrative procedures and improve overall efficiency for employers operating within the country.

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has welcomed the implementation of this new digital system. Jacob Lee Chor Kok, a representative speaking on behalf of the organization, confirmed that the new application process through the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS) has been fully launched.

Furthermore, Jacob Lee Chor Kok highlighted a specific service target established under the updated framework. He noted that aiming to issue the conditional approval letter, known as the SKB, within a strict timeframe of 14 days represents a very positive step toward enhancing the overall quality of service delivery.

In a parallel development concerning the origin of many migrant workers, Bangladesh is also advancing its digital initiatives. The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment is actively working to implement a completely online-based framework for sending workers abroad, aligning with various welfare-oriented measures introduced by the government.

Ariful Haque Chowdhury, heading the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, elaborated on the objectives of the upcoming changes. He stated that managing the legitimacy of recruiting agencies, foreign demand for workers, and all related information through digital means will bring much greater transparency to the entire sector.
