Kuwait Ends Automatic Visit Visa Extensions and Leave Period Concessions
Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has announced the end of automatic visit visa extensions for individuals currently in the country. Additionally, the special concession granting extra time for expatriates' leave permits outside the nation has concluded.

Starting September 1, Kuwait has officially discontinued the automatic extension of visit visas for various categories of individuals currently residing within the country. This policy shift marks a significant change in how residency and visit regulations are managed by local authorities, bringing an end to automated processes that previously allowed visitors to prolong their stay without direct intervention.
In tandem with the changes to visit visas, the Kuwaiti authorities have also terminated the special provisions that previously granted extra time for expatriates who are currently staying outside the country. Under the updated directives, these specific leave permit concessions for overseas residents are no longer in effect.
To help navigate the new administrative requirements, the Kuwaiti government has designated the residency status certificate—obtained through the official Sahel application—as the definitive official reference. This digital tool will now be utilized to verify the exact validity of leave permits.
The announced measures are part of ongoing regulatory updates implemented by the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait. Officials have urged all affected visitors, expatriates, and sponsors to review the updated rules carefully to ensure full compliance with the newly enforced guidelines.
