An unexpected culinary dispute led to the cancellation of a wedding ceremony in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria district. The incident occurred on August 19, 2026, when a groom who is a resident expatriate in Japan arrived at the bride's residence for the scheduled wedding celebrations.
Upon arrival at the venue, the groom inspected the food arrangements made by the bride's family for the guests and the visiting party. However, he immediately expressed deep dissatisfaction regarding the menu prepared for the occasion, raising concerns that quickly escalated tensions between the two families.
The primary source of contention was the absence of mutton among the served dishes. The groom registered a strong objection over the lack of this specific meat, making it clear that he considered the omission a significant shortcoming in the hospitality provided by the bride's family.
