Indian Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal joined the viral wave on 09 September 2026 by sharing an AI-generated photograph of himself styled in the fashion of the 1980s. Accompanying his online post, the Union Minister remarked on the nature of the digital craze, stating, "আশির দশকের প্রবণতায় মেতে উঠেছি।"
Another prominent participant in the 1980s retro photo trend is Indian Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. Taking to the social media platform X, the minister published his own AI-generated image reflecting the aesthetics of the bygone decade alongside a personal reflection on the widespread online movement.
