IDRA Disburses Over Tk 14.50 Crore in Insurance Claims to Clients

The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority has distributed over 145 million taka in insurance claims to 2,549 customers across seven life insurance companies. The checks were handed over during an event held at the IDRA conference room in Dilkusha, Dhaka, led by Chairman Mir Nadia Nivin.

The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) has taken a special initiative to distribute a significant amount of overdue insurance claims to thousands of affected policyholders. Through this concerted regulatory effort, a total of 2,549 customers spanning across seven distinct life insurance companies have successfully received their rightful insurance claims, amounting to more than 14 crore 51 lakh taka in total financial disbursement.

The formal check handover ceremony took place on the 3rd of September at the IDRA conference room located in Dilkusha, Dhaka. During the proceedings, the regulatory authority facilitated the distribution of 94 checks to represent the massive financial settlement, ensuring that the long-standing monetary grievances of numerous policyholders were finally addressed through official administrative channels.

A detailed breakdown of the disbursements reveals varying amounts distributed across the seven participating life insurance companies based on their respective client portfolios. The institutions involved in this round of claim settlements include Bayra Life Insurance Company Limited, Farist Islami Life Insurance Company Limited, Golden Life Insurance Company Limited, Homeland Life Insurance Company Limited, Padma Islami Life Insurance Company Limited, Progressive Life Insurance Company Limited, and Sunflower Life Insurance Company Limited.

Specifically, Bayra Life disbursed 4 lakh 51 thousand 826 taka to 8 customers, while Farist Islami Life distributed 5 crore 42 lakh 85 thousand 369 taka to 528 customers. Furthermore, Golden Life provided 2 lakh 51 thousand 476 taka to 4 customers, and Homeland Life handed over 10 lakh 66 thousand 191 taka to 15 customers. Meanwhile, Padma Islami Life settled claims worth 1 crore 94 lakh 94 thousand 853 taka for 624 customers, Progressive Life paid 6 crore 90 lakh 32 thousand 165 taka and 58 poisha to 1,350 customers, and Sunflower Life cleared 5 lakh 21 thousand 266 taka for 20 customers, bringing the grand total precisely to 14 crore 51 lakh 3 thousand 146 taka and 58 poisha.

Speaking at the event in Dhaka, IDRA Chairman Mir Nadia Nivin handed over the checks personally and addressed the gathering regarding the overarching mission of the regulatory body. She stated that ensuring the timely payment of policyholders' legitimate claims remains one of the topmost priorities for IDRA. She further emphasized that in order to rebuild public trust in the insurance sector, the speed and transparency of claim settlements must be further increased, affirming that IDRA will take all necessary steps to protect the interests of policyholders.
