In a notable agricultural development within Gazipur, local farmer Ferdous Mia has embarked on an innovative venture to cultivate cucumbers without traditional soil. Operating in Sapmara village located in Pubail, inside the Gazipur metropolitan area, Mr. Mia has set up his cultivation across a compact land area measuring three kathas.

For this specific method of farming, the initiative relies heavily on the use of specially arranged polybags. According to the confirmed details of the project, a total of 200 polybags have been deployed by the farmer to facilitate the growth of the cucumber plants in the Sapmara village location.

The core of this soil-less agricultural technique involves the use of cocopeat, which serves as the primary organic growing medium for the crops. Cocopeat is formally defined as an organic medium produced through the processing and refinement of coconut husks and fibers.

To bring this unique farming method to fruition, Mr. Mia has not been working entirely alone. He has received essential assistance and technical guidance from Ariful Islam, who is described as a Bangladeshi farmer currently residing and working as an expatriate in Malaysia.

The ongoing agricultural initiative in Pubail highlights the growing adoption of alternative farming techniques among local growers. By utilizing processed coconut fiber instead of traditional earth, the project demonstrates how foreign consultation and local resources can intersect in regional Bangladeshi agriculture.
