Gaza Faces Humanitarian Catastrophe as Over 2.1 Million Are Displaced

The Gaza Strip is facing a profound humanitarian crisis as displacement levels reach unprecedented figures amid an ongoing military campaign. According to updates released on August 17, more than 2.1 million Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes across the besieged coastal enclave since the current conflict erupted on October 8, 2023.

Amid this mass displacement, hundreds of thousands of people have been left with minimal shelter options. Official figures indicate that more than 867,000 displaced individuals are currently residing in makeshift tents that have been described as entirely unsuitable and unlivable for human habitation.
