From US IT Career to 800 Crore BDT Agricultural Enterprise in India

An entrepreneur in India recently made the bold decision to leave behind a comfortable information technology career in the United States to venture into the agricultural sector. Shashi Kumar spent 12 years working for the prominent organization Wipro before choosing to walk away from his established path in corporate IT to pursue a completely different direction.

Having completed his Bachelor of Technology degree from Bangalore University, Kumar decided to apply his ambitions toward building an agricultural enterprise named Akshayakalpa. Through this newly founded agricultural venture, he set out with the primary mission of providing substantial help and support to farmers across the region.

The journey of building Akshayakalpa was far from straightforward, as the enterprise faced immense financial and operational hurdles along the way. According to information shared on social media by a user named Bikash, the company came dangerously close to bankruptcy on approximately 10 separate occasions, with the first nine years alone seeing the business face insolvency six times. During this turbulent period of establishment, Kumar also endured a prolonged personal strain, remaining estranged from his father for about eight years.

To keep the nascent agricultural dream alive during its most precarious stages, the venture relied heavily on personal resources. Kumar utilized thirty lakh rupees from his wife's personal savings to sustain the operations through the numerous financial crises that threatened to sink the enterprise in its formative years.

Today, those early struggles have given way to remarkable financial and operational scale. Akshayakalpa currently generates approximately 800 crore BDT annually, boasting a monthly profit of 60 crore rupees. The expansive agricultural network now successfully partners with 2,800 farmers, providing each participating farmer with a monthly payout of 1.28 lakh rupees.
