Fresh LPG Expands Fleet With Addition of MT Mercantile-65 Carrier
Fresh LPG has expanded its maritime transport fleet by adding the new LPG carrier MT Mercantile-65, boosting its total capacity. The vessel will transport imported liquefied petroleum gas across key locations in Bangladesh to support national energy security.
Fresh LPG, a brand operating under the Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), has officially added a new liquefied petroleum gas carrier named 'MT Mercantile-65' to its growing fleet. The newly integrated vessel boasts a substantial carrying capacity of 2,000 metric tons, marking a significant step forward in the company's operational capabilities within Bangladesh.
With this latest addition, Fresh LPG now operates a total of three specialized LPG carriers. Together, these three vessels provide a combined carrying capacity of 6,000 metric tons, allowing the enterprise to handle larger volumes of maritime cargo and strengthen its overall logistics network across the country.
The newly commissioned carrier has been designated to perform critical transport duties. Specifically, the MT Mercantile-65 will be utilized to transport imported liquefied petroleum gas from the Kutubdia and Chattogram outer anchorages directly to the Meghnaaghat and Mongla processing plants, ensuring a steady flow of materials to production facilities.
The expansion is backed by the extensive industrial footprint of the Meghna Group of Industries (MGI). Established back in 1976, MGI has grown into a major commercial presence featuring more than 57 industrial units and employing a workforce of over 65,000 people across its various operations.
Commenting on the strategic development, Tanvir Mostofa stated that Fresh LPG remains fully committed to ensuring a safe, effective, and reliable supply of liquefied petroleum gas within the domestic market. He added that the organization will continue investing in transport and logistics capabilities to meet growing national demand, make the supply system more reliable, and contribute directly to the energy security of Bangladesh.
Echoing these sentiments, Abu Sayed Raja noted that the inclusion of the new LPG carrier will substantially enhance the company's operational capacity. He explained that the vessel will help guarantee uninterrupted year-round supply, satisfy rising consumer demands, and expand liquefied petroleum gas distribution into underprivileged areas.
