Fire at Kolkata Hotel Claims Lives of Seven Bangladeshis, Including Alimuzzaman Saju

A devastating fire broke out at a hotel located on Mirza Ghalib Street near the New Market area in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The incident has sent shockwaves through the region as authorities and families come to terms with the immense loss of life stemming from the sudden blaze at the accommodation site.

According to the confirmed casualty figures, a total of nine individuals lost their lives in the tragic fire disaster. Out of these nine fatalities, seven victims were identified as Bangladeshi nationals who were staying at the Kolkata hotel at the time the emergency unfolded.

Official records from the incident site indicate that a total of 25 Bangladeshi nationals were staying at the hotel when the fire struck. The presence of such a significant number of citizens from neighboring Bangladesh has drawn intense focus to the safety conditions and emergency response at the Mirza Ghalib Street location.

Among the seven Bangladeshi victims identified in the aftermath of the tragedy is Alimuzzaman Saju. His grieving family and community in Bangladesh have been struck by the sudden and devastating loss, which occurred during what was meant to be a routine medical journey abroad.

Alimuzzaman Saju hailed from Borea village, situated within the Tarali Union of Kaliganj Upazila in the Satkhira district. Prior to his untimely passing in the Kolkata hotel fire, he earned his livelihood as a dedicated gher businessman in his home region.

Before the tragedy struck on August 19, Alimuzzaman Saju had traveled from Bangladesh to India specifically to seek medical care. He was undergoing treatment for persistent back pain when the fatal fire engulfed the Mirza Ghalib Street hotel property.
