Disney Reveals Kingdom Hearts Anime and Kingdom Hearts IV Coco Setting

Entertainment giant Disney has officially announced a brand-new animated television series based on the hugely popular Kingdom Hearts franchise. The upcoming adaptation is scheduled to be made available to viewers on both the Disney+ streaming platform and the Disney Channel television network, bringing the beloved gaming universe to the small screen in an episodic format.

According to the confirmed details released by the company, this newly announced television project will feature a completely brand-new tale. This original storyline is specifically designed to expand significantly upon the intricate and sprawling lore of the overall franchise, offering both longtime fans and new audiences fresh narrative territory to explore.

The development of the animated series is a collaborative effort. Disney has developed the project directly alongside visionary creator Tetsuya Nomura and the broader creative team at Square Enix, ensuring that the television adaptation remains closely aligned with the creative vision established by the original games.

In addition to the television series announcement, Disney treated fans to a special glimpse of the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts IV. During the presentation, the entertainment conglomerate showcased a brand-new setting for the upcoming title that is directly based on the acclaimed Pixar animated film Coco.

Following the preview of the Coco-inspired world and other updates regarding the fourth main installment, game publisher Square Enix outlined its release schedule. Square Enix officially plans to launch Kingdom Hearts IV for players around the world in late 2027.
