Over the past few years, the popularity and variety of street food in Dhaka have experienced a remarkable surge. Residents and food enthusiasts no longer feel the need to visit high-end, expensive restaurants to enjoy delicious and flavorful meals, as vibrant food scenes have emerged directly on the streets and avenues of the capital city.

This bustling street food culture is spread widely across numerous locations throughout Dhaka. Prominent spots known for their culinary offerings include Manik Mia Avenue, Mirpur, Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Science Lab, New Market, Tejgaon, Khilgaon, Dhanmondi, Banani, and the popular Purbachal Nila Market, which has developed along the banks of the Balu River and become well-known for its diverse food selections.

Among the many vendors operating across the city, specific individuals have achieved notable renown. For instance, Rubel Mama and Ujjal Mama, who operate near New Market, have spent the last few years going viral on social media platforms for their signature jhalmuri infused with fiery Bombay chillies, alongside vendor Riqta Richi, while students from Northern University and Primeasia University frequently engage with the vibrant food landscape.

The economic scale of this street food phenomenon is significant, with vendors such as Rubel Mama and Ujjal Mama reporting daily sales of jhalmuri ranging between five and seven thousand taka. Furthermore, the pricing remains highly accessible for the general public, with individual food items generally priced between twenty and one hundred and fifty taka.

Patrons can easily find and enjoy their preferred meals for a total cost of one hundred and fifty to two hundred taka. Additionally, visitors heading to the pizza carts located in Agargaon can purchase pizzas for two hundred and fifty to five hundred taka, while those traveling around the city typically pay a per-person transport fare of thirty to forty taka.
