The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), which serves as the primary share market of the country, has experienced a major price fall. During the trading session, the main index of the DSE, known as the DSEX, dropped below the five thousand five hundred point mark, reflecting a notable downturn in market performance.

Market data from the Dhaka trading floor shows that a total of three hundred and eighty-four institutions participated in the day's transactions. Among these actively traded companies and institutions, the overwhelming majority faced negative pressure as prices fell for three hundred and thirty-six entities.

Conversely, only a small fraction of the participating institutions managed to secure gains during the session. Specifically, the prices of just twenty-seven companies and institutions increased, while the prices for twenty-one institutions remained completely unchanged throughout the day.

Despite the broad market decline and the significant drop in the benchmark index, trading activity as measured by financial turnover actually saw a slight increase. The total amount of transactions recorded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange reached five hundred and seventy-one crore taka.

When compared to the previous trading day's figures, this latest turnover statistic indicates an increase in trading volume. According to the market records, the transaction amount was twenty-seven crore taka higher than what was recorded on the preceding business day.
