Authorities in the Indian capital of Delhi officially released the region's draft voter list on Monday, marking a significant development in the local electoral process. The release follows a comprehensive special intensive revision (SIR) campaign carried out across the territory by the Election Commission to update and verify the electoral rolls.

According to the official figures released on Monday, the new draft voter list includes a total of 97.5 million voters. However, a massive number of individuals have been omitted from the rolls during this rigorous verification process, with statistics confirming that 4.77 million voters were excluded from the draft list entirely.

Prior to the release of this draft, the total number of registered voters stood at 14.5 million. The extensive updating process involved the digitization of citizen data, with officials managing to successfully digitize the information of approximately 67.18 percent of voters throughout the entirety of the process.

A breakdown of the digitization figures reveals notable regional disparities across the capital territory. The Rohini area recorded the highest level of digitization at an impressive 83.43 percent, whereas Tughlakabad registered the lowest completion rate in the territory, with only 52.15 percent of information successfully processed.

Addressing concerns regarding the substantial exclusions, Ashok Kumar provided crucial guidance for affected citizens on how to rectify their voter status. Ashok Kumar stated that those individuals who have been left off the draft list will have the opportunity to apply for name inclusion by filling out Form 6 along with the necessary documentation up until the deadline of September 30.

Following the conclusion of the objection and application period, the electoral authorities will process the submissions and prepare the next stages. The final and official voter list for Delhi is formally scheduled to be published later this year on November 4.
