Channel 4 Acquires Paramount TV Ad Sales Business From Sky
Channel 4 has poached Paramount's TV advertising sales business from Sky in the United Kingdom. The major move comes alongside an announcement that Channel 4 is to cut 340 jobs.

In a significant development within the United Kingdom media landscape, Channel 4 has successfully poached Paramount's television advertising sales business away from Sky. The high-profile transaction reshapes the commercial dynamics of British broadcasting, bringing together the advertising operations of major networks under a single umbrella.
As part of its ongoing operational adjustments, Channel 4 has announced that it is to cut 340 jobs. This restructuring occurs against a backdrop where Channel 4 heavily relies on commercial advertising, which accounts for about 90% of its £1bn in total revenues.
The newly formed partnership encompasses comprehensive ad sales responsibilities for a wide array of popular television channels and brands. Specifically, the agreement includes ad sales for Channel 5, MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon. However, digital streaming services such as Paramount+ and Pluto TV are explicitly excluded from the arrangement.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the collaboration, Priya Dogra remarked, "This exciting partnership, which brings together ad sales for Channel 4 and 5 for the first time, creates a tremendous proposition for advertisers, rooted in the power of public service broadcasting." Dogra further emphasized the scale of the venture, adding, "This groundbreaking collaboration will give advertisers seamless access to a unique portfolio of trusted, premium brands and even larger audiences. It will also generate new commercial opportunities for two distinctive commercial PSBs, helping support further investment in British programming." Echoing these sentiments, Reemah Sakaan described the arrangement as "a historic partnership between two British broadcasters."
Meanwhile, concurrent financial settlements have emerged regarding historical matters within the sector. Sky has paid Paramount £98m in relation to past miscalculations, concluding a specific chapter of financial reconciliation between those organizations operating within the UK market.
