The major announcement was officially revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live, showcasing the studio's continued commitment to expanding and modernizing its iconic fantasy franchise featuring the monster hunter Geralt and his faithful horse Roach.
As part of this comprehensive release, the newly overhauled game will be offered entirely as a free upgrade to current owners starting on September 29. Furthermore, this expansive upgrade policy explicitly covers a complimentary Switch 2 upgrade for players who originally purchased the title for the first-generation Nintendo Switch console, ensuring that current fans across various platforms can access the enhanced version without any additional financial burden.
Beyond the technical and visual enhancements, the development team at CDPR has heavily revised core gameplay mechanics. Specifically, the skill tree and combat systems have undergone substantial overhauls.
