International football is set to return to India with the official announcement of upcoming matches against prominent global football nations, including Brazil, Uruguay and Panama. The schedule for these high-profile international encounters was confirmed, revealing that matches will be hosted on home soil in the cities of Kolkata and Bengaluru during the upcoming international window.
Panama, currently holding the 44th position in the official FIFA rankings, is scheduled to arrive in India to play a match on home soil. According to the announced schedule, this opening fixture against the visiting Panamanian team will take place in Bengaluru on the 26th of September.
Following the match in Bengaluru, the sporting action will shift towards Kolkata as the city prepares to host a major fixture against five-time world champions Brazil. The confirmed schedule dictates that the Brazilian national team will face India in a much-anticipated home fixture on the 3rd of October.
Just days after the encounter against Brazil, Kolkata will host another formidable South American opponent when the Indian team takes on Uruguay. The fixture against the Uruguayan side, which currently holds the 20th position in the official FIFA rankings, is scheduled to take place on the 6th of October.
Adding a notable connection to the fixture, Uruguay's current head coach is Diego Forlan, who has previous playing experience in Indian football. Forlan previously featured in the country when he played for the Indian club Mumbai City FC back in the year 2016.
