BCB Cancels Full HP Camp for Special Fast Bowling Training
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has scrapped plans for a full High-Performance training camp in favor of a specialized conditioning program for fast bowlers. Led by Mario Villavarayan, the targeted camp begins September 12 ahead of the National Cricket League.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has cancelled its comprehensive High-Performance (HP) training camp, opting instead to organize a special conditioning camp specifically tailored for fast bowlers. The decision comes as domestic cricket commitments take precedence, leading officials to abandon earlier plans to host a large-scale training program involving more than 30 cricketers.
Instead of the broader HP initiative, the upcoming specialized activity will focus exclusively on a select group of 10 to 12 fast bowlers. This targeted conditioning program is scheduled to officially commence on September 12, serving as a crucial preparatory phase for the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) across Bangladesh.
The specialized fast bowling camp will be spearheaded by Mario Villavarayan, who has recently returned to Bangladesh cricket after a six-year absence. Alongside his primary responsibilities running the BCB rehabilitation center, Villavarayan will work in close collaboration with HP pace bowling coach Corey Collymore to guide the national pace attack prospects through this intensive training period.
The revised training structure directly reflects the busy schedule of domestic cricket fixtures in the country. By narrowing the scope of the pre-season activities down to a handful of designated fast bowlers, the board aims to provide individualized attention and rigorous conditioning ahead of the demanding National Cricket League competition.
While the full HP training camp remains cancelled, the focused September 12 program highlights the board's strategic emphasis on physical preparation for premier fast-bowling talents. Under the expert supervision of Mario Villavarayan and Corey Collymore, the selected group of pacers will undergo specialized conditioning designed to elevate their readiness for upcoming domestic challenges.
