Renowned Bangladeshi rock musician James extended his stay in Sydney, Australia, following a major musical performance held earlier in the month. The artist remained in the city for four additional days after his initial concert commitments concluded, taking the opportunity to casually explore the urban landscape as a tourist.
The journey began on September 12, 2024, when James performed live at a concert hosted at the Norwest Hillsong Convention Centre in Sydney. Sharing the stage for this notable musical event was Rupam Islam, the frontman of the Kolkata-based rock band Fossils, bringing together prominent musical talents from the region.
While wandering the streets of Sydney during his extended stay, James engaged with the local environment and encountered residents and admirers. At one point, an unfamiliar passing photographer stopped to direct the musician, instructing him on positioning by saying, "Not like that, look that way! Your eyes are closing, open your eyes!"
Reflecting on the broader cultural significance of the tour and the connections among the diaspora, James shared his perspective on the community gatherings. He remarked, "The most beautiful aspect of this arrangement of yours is that you have threaded the entire Bengal together in a single string. There is no division here. Whether it is Bangladesh, Kolkata, Sydney, or America—wherever Bengalis may be, their spiritual bond is one, and that is my Bengal."
After concluding his multi-day tourist exploration and extended stay in Sydney, James departed the city on September 16, 2024, heading toward Melbourne. His schedule included a subsequent concert performance in Melbourne, leading up to his final return to Bangladesh on September 19, 2024.
