Bangladeshi actress Apu Biswas stranded in Nepal after disaster

Bangladeshi film actress Apu Biswas has found herself stranded in Nepal amidst a series of natural disasters, including earthquakes, massive landslides, and sudden flash floods that have wreaked havoc across the region. According to reports from media organizations such as BBC and Risingbd, the catastrophic events have led to widespread destruction, with early estimates suggesting that at least 55 people have lost their lives. Furthermore, authorities and reports indicate that a staggering 384 tourists remain missing, among whom 291 are confirmed to be foreign nationals, escalating concerns for travelers currently visiting the Himalayan nation.

The actress had traveled to Nepal during the first week of the current month specifically for the shooting of her upcoming film titled 'Shikar'. However, her professional trip took an unexpected and perilous turn when the natural disasters struck. The ensuing earthquakes, followed by unrelenting landslides and flash floods, severely impacted normal life and heavily disrupted transportation networks throughout the country, leaving numerous visitors and locals stranded in various locations.

Despite the chaotic situation unfolding around her, Apu Biswas has managed to communicate regarding her current status and immediate safety. Speaking about her situation, the actress stated, "I am in Pokhara. Where I am, I am safe. However, the highway from Pokhara to Kathmandu has been terribly disrupted. I have learned that it will take about a month to fix this road. Our car has been arranged. Tomorrow I will go to Kathmandu. There is a lot of pressure on flights. I will return to Dhaka from Kathmandu on the flight the day after tomorrow (Friday)."

The disruption of the main highway connecting Pokhara and Kathmandu has posed significant logistical challenges for travelers attempting to leave the affected areas. With the roadway heavily damaged and estimated to require approximately a month for complete repair, travelers like Biswas are forced to rely on alternative arrangements and navigate heavily congested commercial flight schedules operating out of Kathmandu to secure their departure.

As she prepares for her journey back home, the actress reached out to her well-wishers and fans with a personal message regarding her safety and emotional state. In her appeal for blessings, Apu Biswas expressed, "Do not worry about me. I ask everyone for prayers so that I can safely return to my child in the country." Her scheduled flight on Friday is expected to bring her back to Dhaka, concluding a tense and harrowing period abroad caused by the unexpected environmental catastrophe.
