Bangladesh Women's Football Coaching Staff Shaken Up Ahead of AFC Qualifiers

Ahead of the upcoming AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers in Jordan, the Bangladesh Football Federation has implemented significant changes to the coaching staff of the national women's football team. According to decisions announced yesterday on Monday, the federation has appointed its technical director, Saiful Bari Titu, to take over the role of head coach for the squad. Alongside this appointment, Golam Rabbani Choton has been assigned to work as his assistant coach.

Explaining the rationale behind handing the head coach responsibilities to the technical director, Bangladesh Football Federation official Mahfuza Akter Kiran elaborated on the credentials required for the position. She stated that a technical director fundamentally functions as a coach and holds a professional license. Consequently, because the federation deemed him to be a better fit for the immediate requirements, they officially entrusted him with the primary coaching duties.

This restructuring follows recent activities involving Golam Rabbani Choton, who last month traveled to Malaysia in the capacity of coach for Rajshahi Stars. The coaching reshuffle also arrives amid broader administrative adjustments and personnel scrutiny within the national women's football setup, prompting careful deliberation by the federation regarding team leadership ahead of the international fixtures.

In addition to the coaching realignment, the federation addressed disciplinary and administrative actions concerning other staff members. Mahfuza Akter Kiran confirmed that a formal investigation committee has been formed regarding Mirona. Due to the ongoing investigation, Mirona has been excluded from the upcoming squad's scheduled trip to Jordan.

Addressing distinctions between different staff cases, Mahfuza Akter Kiran clarified the situations involving Khalid Mahmud Nawmi and Mirona, noting that their circumstances are entirely different. She pointed out that Nawmi had not experienced any conflicts with members of the team. Previously, senior women's team manager Khalid Mahmud Nawmi had faced a complaint from SAFF regarding a breach of discipline.

Kiran further detailed the differing official responses by explaining that internal questions exist specifically concerning Mirona, which ultimately led to the contrasting decisions made by the federation for the two individuals. With the coaching staff finalized and disciplinary inquiries underway, the Bangladesh team prepares to travel to Jordan for the crucial AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifying matches.
