Bangladesh Remittances Surge to $1.88 Billion in First 17 Days of August
Bangladesh has recorded 1.88 billion US dollars in remittances during the first seventeen days of August. This represents a significant year-on-year increase of 32.60 percent compared to the same period last year.

Bangladesh has experienced a substantial surge in incoming remittances, securing 1.88 billion US dollars during the first seventeen days of the current month of August. This robust financial inflow demonstrates a continuation of strong support from expatriate workers contributing to the national economy through official banking channels.
The official confirmation regarding these figures was provided on Tuesday, August 18, by Arif Hossain Khan, who serves as the spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank. The central bank's detailed tracking highlights the impressive momentum of foreign currency inflows during the early portion of the month.
When calculated at an exchange rate of 123 taka per US dollar, the total remittance volume reaches approximately 23 billion 210 million and 10 lakh taka. This extensive financial conversion underscores the massive scale of the funds being transferred home by expatriate citizens.
A notable highlight within this period occurred on Monday, August 17, when a single day's collection alone brought in remittance equivalent to one thousand 205 crore and 40 lakh taka. Such concentrated daily inflows provide a strong boost to the country's foreign exchange reserves and overall monetary stability.
When evaluated against historical performance, the growth trajectory is notably steep. During the exact same seventeen-day timeframe in August of last year, expatriate workers had sent 1.42 billion and 40 lakh dollars, marking an impressive overall increase of 32.60 percent for the current year.
